Costa Verde Beach Circuit<\/strong> | Lima is the only South American capital with direct access to the ocean<\/strong>, and the Costa Verde is Peru’s most important beach circuit. It stretches for nearly 6 kilometres and connects the districts of Chorrillos, Barranco, Miraflores, San Isidro, Magdalena del Mar, and San Miguel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This circuit runs along the Pacific Ocean<\/strong> and takes its name from the vegetation that covers the cliffs. Since it lies several dozen meters below the level of the city, it is essential to know how to access it on foot and by vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, it is one of the most photographed and visited places<\/strong> by travelers from around the world, thanks to its ocean views, well-maintained parks, and outdoor routes that are ideal for walking or exercising with the sea breeze in the background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea of connecting the city with the coastline emerged during the government of President Augusto B. Legu\u00eda<\/strong> (1928) with the \u00abPatria Nueva<\/strong>\u00bb coastal highway project. Although the project was halted after his fall from power, in the 1960s, architect and former mayor of Miraflores Ernesto Arambur\u00fa Menchaca<\/strong> revived the idea, taking inspiration from the famous French Riviera<\/strong>. Finally, on December 15, 1970<\/strong>, this iconic road and culinary circuit was officially inaugurated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manufactured in 1900<\/strong> by Swedish company Chance Bros<\/strong>, it originally operated in Punta Coles<\/strong> (Moquegua) before being relocated to Miraflores in 1973<\/strong>. Made up of 319 assembled pieces, it is one of the district’s most photographed landmarks. (Note: There is a popular legend attributing its design to Gustave Eiffel<\/strong>, although there are no official records confirming this).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Larcomar (Miraflores)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inaugurated in 1998<\/strong>, Larcomar is a shopping center<\/strong> featuring avant-garde architecture built directly into the cliffside. It offers privileged views of the coastline, more than 100 stores, movie theaters, and a diverse selection of restaurants overlooking the ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mirador Catalina Recavarren (Barranco)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parque de las Mariposas (Barranco)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parque Chino de Miraflores<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inaugurated in February 2022<\/strong> on Block 11 of Malec\u00f3n Cisneros, it commemorates Chinese heritage and immigration in Peru<\/strong>. Parque Mar\u00eda Reiche (Miraflores)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
