The full name of this mountain in the Quechua language is Pallay Punchu Apu T’acllo, which means, Colourful Poncho looking mountain, this is because of the shape and the colours of this mountain that resembles to a men’s clothing: El Poncho.
If you have already heard of other colourful mountains such as Vinicunca or Palcoyo, Pallay Poncho is another of the colourful mountains that exists in the Cusco region, however it differs from the first two ones mainly due to the sharp morphology of the mountain and the presence of the Langui lake next to this place — so if you decide taking this excursion, you will also see a lake high up on the Andes of Cusco.
