Gold Museum of Peru and Weapons of the World — interior visit
This museum is divided into two main collections:
- Collection of world weapons: This gallery contains more than 20,000 pieces from different times and places in the world, some pieces are unique in their kind, others belonged to great figures in history, for example, in this hall you will see the two swords that belonged to the conqueror/invader of Peru: Francisco Pizarro. You will also be able to see weapons that belonged to famous people such as Miguel Grau, Francisco Bolognesi, Napoleon Bonaparte, The Czars Alexander I and Nicolás II, Simón Bolívar, etc. This hall is also the ideal place to see some Egyptian knives, Samurai armor, European armor and military uniforms.
- Gold Collection: In this hall, you will see metallic objects in gold and precious stones that belonged to pre-Inca civilizations in northern Peru; the most famous ones are the Tumi de Oro and the funerary masks.
Transfer from the Gold Museum to the Archeology Museum
National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru — interior visit
- This museum was founded by the liberator Don José de San Martín in 1822, it currently has a huge variety of cultural and historical objects of the Peruvian civilization, housing more than 300,000 pieces.
- At this museum, you will also see José Gil’s hall:This painter was the most famous artist of the early 19th century, he was known as “The mulatto painter” and “The Liberators’ painter” because he portrayed the liberators of Peru such as Simón Bolívar, José de San Martin, José Olaya and others. In this hall, you will also see one of the most famous painting in Peru that captures the meeting of the penultimate Viceroy Pezuela with Don José de San Martin in 1820 to discuss the emancipation of Peru.
