Tour por Barrio Chino, Catedral + Convento de Santo Domingo en Lima

Tour of Chinatown, Cathedral + Convent of Santo Domingo

A historical tour full of colonial and Chinese contrast

ABOUT

Visit the oldest Chinatown in South America located in the historic center of Lima; this tour is good to learn about Chinese migration from Hong Kong to Peru in the mid-19th century as a result of the abolition of the Afro-people in Peru. The black people were set free in 1854 under the government of Ramón Castilla y Marquesado and the chinesse people were basically brought to Peru as source of cheap labour.

You will also visit the Basilica Cathedral San Juan Apóstol of Lima which is currently the only wooden cathedral that exists in over South America and you will top it off with the Convent of Santo Domingo where the most popular Peruvian Saints of Peru use to live: Santa Rosa de Lima (the first female saint of America ) and San Martín de Porres (first Afro Saint in the world).
