From Puno to the Uros Islands by boat

At about 07:35, you will board the tourist boat that will take you to the Uros Islands. This boat ride lasts around 25 minutes.

Guided tour of the Uros floating islands — at about 08:00

In the waters of Lake Titicaca, there exists an archipelago made of totora, an aquatic plant that thrives in this natural landscape. On these small islands, created and maintained afloat by human hands, the Uros people have lived for centuries.

During your visit to the floating islands, you will learn about the history of this pre-Hispanic community, the customs and traditions of its descendants, and the various objects they craft from totora.

The islands are about 40 cm thick and are home to a maximum of 6 families. The Uros are expert swimmers, fishermen, and weavers. Tourism is vital to the economy of the local people.

From the Uros Islands to Amantaní by boat

Back to the boat at 10:30 to sail the waters of the highest navigable lake in the world. Your destination is Amantaní, a nearly circular island with stunning geography and rich cultural heritage. It is located 40 km from Puno, at an altitude of 3817 m a.s.l.

Arrival and guided tour of Amantaní Island — at about 12:00

You will arrive at Amantaní around midday. This island, a true lakeside paradise spanning 3.5 km in diameter, is home to men and women from 10 communities who still preserve their customs and traditional clothing.

You will be enchanted by Amantaní’s rural atmosphere, the warmth of its inhabitants —always kind to visitors—, its crops of potatoes, maize, oca, quinoa, and other high-altitude products, as well as its natural lookout points of Pachatata and Pachamama.

From both lookout points, where rituals are performed, you will realize the vastness of Lake Titicaca and even catch sight of the snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera Real, a mountain range in Bolivia, the country with which the lake is shared.

Typical lunch in Amantani

Before returning to Puno, you will experience a gastronomic delight on the island. For lunch, you’ll taste the local flavors and products grown in the fields of the island’s residents. If you’re feeling cold or struggling with the altitude, a warm soup will be the perfect remedy.

Return to Puno — at about 15:00

After fully enjoying your visit to the “Island of Love,” get ready to return to Puno. The boat will set sail at 15:00. Once aboard, it’s a good idea to protect yourself from the wind, as it will blow strongly during the return journey.

Ending place — at about 17:15

The disembarkation in Puno is scheduled for 17:00. At the lakeside port, our vehicle will be waiting to take you to your hotel in the city centre. After a 15 to 20-minute vehicle ride, you will be in your hotel.
