Las Ballestas are a group of islands which are made up of rock formations where there is an important marine fauna with guano birds such as the Guanay, the Piquero, Zarcillo, Gaviota and the Pelican. The Ballestas Islands are currently an extremely important refuge for the colony of sea lions, Humboldt penguins and the immense variety of birds.
